Australian Laser Charge is a specialist remanufacturer and retailer of toner
cartridges, and actively promotes and endorses the triple bottom line philosophy of balancing the relationship between economic, social & environmental factors.
ALC’s policy of reuse in preference to recycling is in line with the recognised waste management hierarchy now used as best practice throughout the world.
If a cartridge can be successfully remanufactured (reused)... it will be.
If it can’t, we will reduce the cartridge to its component parts and these will either be reused or recycled locally (if possible).
A specialised plastics granulator has been installed on site to enable unserviceable plastic components to be crushed (to reduce volume) prior to being used to produce a range of new 100% recycled plastic products such as park benches, tables, signs, boardwalk planking etc. The plastic produced is extremely durable, non-toxic and of course, itself recyclable. ALC advocates the use of these downstream products, in preference to timber that is often treated with toxic preservatives.
All packaging materials are either reused or recycled locally.
Waste avoidance is the most important feature of waste management. ALC’s commitment to triple bottom line strategies helps the business community achieve the social, environmental and economic advantages.
We try to build public awareness of the environmental issues pertinent to our industry, i.e. the generation and disposal of “e” waste, and the avoidance options and solutions that cartridge remanufacture and green purchasing make available.
ALC has commenced practicing what we preach, now using 100% post-consumer recycled paper.
A dedicated environmental advisor has also been employed to implement an ongoing policy of educating users in the responsible reuse and/or disposal of printer consumable waste.
Our aim is to stem the flow of printer cartridges sent to landfill, millions annually throughout the world.
Australian Laser Charge is working towards a “zero to landfill” policy. |
